Face-to-face event in collaboration with Eiji Press An Active Book Dialogue® (ABD) reading group was held to enable collaborative reading and discussion of The Heart of Business by Hubert Joly

Events

We held a face-to-face event at Gramco on March 14 in collaboration with Eiji Press.
As part of a series continuing from the online seminar held on February 28, the participants jointly read The Heart of Business: Leadership Principles for the Next Era of Capitalism by Hubert Joly. ABD (Active Book Dialogue®), a futuristic reading method, was conducted, enabling all participants to read and summarize the book, share the contents, and deepen their understanding through dialogue.

Facilitated by Eiji Press, participants were asked to read excerpts from Parts 1 "The Meaning of Work" through 3 "Unleashing Human Magic" of the book, with each participant taking responsibility for summarizing their own part. After the participants took turns presenting their completed summaries in the form of a "presentation relay," while actually passing around a baton, we held a "gallery walk" in which each person marked the areas that resonated with them. Based on these discussions, a "dialogue" was held to deepen understanding by exploring the points that resonated most with participants, along with the reasons behind them, as well as the issues and challenges each participant is currently facing.

Toward the end of the event, we asked everyone to share their thoughts on the event and what they hoped to take away from it. In addition, Gramco President Yoichiro Yano, the author of the commentary, talked about the background and process leading to the publication of the Japan edition together with Eiji Press, as well as about the book's author, Hubert Joly, former chairman and CEO of Best Buy.
In the post-event questionnaire, participants shared feedback that they gained insights they would not have discovered on their own and reaffirmed the importance of purpose management.
Gramco will continue to plan intermittent face-to-face seminars and webinars. Please stay tuned for more seminar and webinar information.
