Tokyo Treasure Islands

Branding to promote the appeal of 11 islands

In 2017, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched the "Tokyo Treasure Islands Promotion Project" to promote efforts to rediscover and communicate wonderful "treasures" of the island areas of Tokyo, including landscapes, local resources, and specialty products. Working with residents of the 11 remote islands (Oshima, Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, Mikurashima, Hachijojima, Aogashima, Chichijima, and Hahajima) in Tokyo, we developed individual concepts while identifying the strengths of each island. While working toward branding and adding value to the islands, the Tokyo Treasure Islands Conference was held as a gathering of people involved in promoting the branding of all 11 islands. Exchange between the islands is also becoming more active. The symbol representing entire Tokyo Treasure Islands was developed and provided by Gramco. It represents the 11 islands coming together, shining brighter, and becoming a treasure (jewel). Yamada, a representative of Gramco, serves as the chair of this committee.
